"Heroes" THEMATIC FORUM

 

Dear learners,

In this activity, you will demonstrate your knowledge of the second learning unit (Ev02) by discussing a historical figure you admire and consider a hero.

You need to make two entres: first, create your own post introducing your chosen hero. Then, respond to a selected post by commenting on their chosen hero. Please make sure to read all the previous post to avoid introducing a hero that has already been mentioned. 

For your initial post, include the following:

• Start by greeting the group and mentioning the hero's name, their origin and the general time period they lived in.
• Describe qualities attributed to your hero and their most important achievements using past tense with regular and irregular verbs.
• Mention some things that your hero didn't do or achieve during their lifetime.

After that, you will react to the heroes intruduced by asking questions. You can ask yes/no or Wh-questions in audio format using vocaroo links or mp3 files.

For your second participation, follow these guidelines:

• Create at least three questions addressed  to one or several classmates.
• Your questions should help you understand why they chose their hero and also help you learn more about that hero.

First Entry Example:

Hi everyone! I want to share my hero with you. His name is Leonardo da Vinci, and he was an Italian genius who lived during the 16th century. Leonardo was amazing at painting, inventing and science. He made famous paintings like the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.

One great thing about Leonardo is that he did many interesting experiments. He learned about bodies, machines and even wanted people to fly! But even though he was super talented, he didn't finish some of his big ideas, for exxample his large bronze horse sculpture.

I am excited to hear about your heroes too! Tell me what makes them special, and if you have any questions about Leonardo, ask away!
